There is no better use for film than portraits. Especially BW film. It just feels like film is alive, just like us. There is not a lot of film left to choose from but it just seems like Ilford Xp2 & Kodak Tmax400 are my favorites. I really liked how Tmax400 looked when pulled one stop. Maybe there is not much of a difference but even less contrast seems to show more skin tonality.
Talking color film - from all there is on the market right now i like Portra160 the most. Very nice warm skintones with that oldschool film feel that Portra400 is missing.
